Role Overview

The Position

NorthStar Anesthesia is seeking an Assistant Chief CRNA – Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist to lead and support the team at Inova Alexandria Hospital in Alexandria, VA. The clinical team has an exceptionally strong culture, and this leader will play an integral part in driving continued positive impact on the team. This leader will need to have exceptional interpersonal communication, organization, and time management skills. In addition to the clinical requirements of this position, the Assistant Chief CRNA will take on several leadership duties including scheduling, equipment management, and IT systems related management. This position includes a competitive compensation package, assistant chief stipend, plus comprehensive benefits and 6 weeks of paid time off.

  

What You Will Do in This Role 

The Assistant Chief CRNA will work in conjunction with the Chief CRNA and Medical Director of Anesthesia, anesthesiologists, CRNA staff, and all healthcare providers involved in the care of patients requiring analgesia/anesthesia services.

  • Works independently or in collaboration with anesthesiologists, surgeons and other physicians and medical professionals to deliver anesthesia for medical and surgical procedures. 
  • Cares for patient before, during and after a medical procedure or surgery by performing a preanesthesia assessment, preparing the patient for anesthesia, inducing and maintaining intra-procedure anesthesia, and providing postanesthesia. 
  • Proficient in anesthesia-related procedures in accordance with facility clinical privileges.
  • Assist in the development of staff schedules that meets the contractual anesthesia service agreement.  
  • Proficient in NorthStar IT-based platforms for scheduling, timekeeping, compliance, human resources, and payroll management.  
  • Active in hospital-based committees that support anesthesia participation.  
  • Adhere to and assists in communicating NorthStar Policy and Procedures to staff CRNA teammates.  

What Qualifications You Will Need 

  • Graduate of a nurse anesthesia educational program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs or its predecessor.  
  • Hold current status as an Advanced Practice Nurse Anesthetist by the State Board of Nursing for the State of employment.  
  • At least five years of CRNA experience outside of education completion.
  • Insurable by an appropriate medical malpractice insurer for the limits required by the group, institution, or state.   
  • CRNA may also be required to hold additional licensures, certifications and/or education as required by facility and/or state for which they are assigned.
